On October 1, 2004, members of the BMTG Big Four were instructed to choose 10 CDs, albums, 8-tracks, etc. that they would have while stranded on a deserted island. In addition, each member of the Big Four was to choose 3 CDs, albums, etc. that they would leave with the other members of the Big Four. The same instructions applied for lists of movies - 10 movies they would have and 3 they would leave with the others.

Lists are in no particular order. Best of compilations and live performances are only allowed if they are sold commercially and not bootlegged. Downloaded music compilations are not allowed. Box sets are not allowed. Double albums are generally o.k. since they come packaged on one CD, but the double CD should be avoided and will come under scrutiny if one is placed on the list. Movies also must be commercially available and not bootlegged. Hard to find movies are acceptable as well as current movies in the theater. Each title must be one movie only (cannot do four movies on one DVD, for example). Seven hour porn DVDs are not allowed.
