Lancaster JetHawks at Modesto A's
A's Win Wild One, 4-3
Mark Teahen scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Modesto A's a 4-3 victory over the Lancaster JetHawks on Thursday night at John Thurman Field. Lancaster reliever Cliff McMachen walked the bases loaded in before unloading the wild pitch to Mark Kiger that scored the game winner. Lloyd Turner, whose walk moved Teahen over to third base, had three of the A’s nine hits in his first start of the season at second base.
Brad Weis started for the A’s and went the first six innings, allowing just one run on two hits with seven strikeouts. A pair of errors allowed the A’s to score two runs in the fifth inning and Weis left with a 3-1 lead. Jeff Coleman allowed two runs in the seventh inning and the score remained tied until the 11th.
John Catellanos pitched six strong innings for Lancaster. The only earned run he allowed was an RBI single to Matt Bowser in the first inning, scoring Gary Thomas who had led off the game with a base hit.
The A’s next game is Friday night as they open a three game series against the San Jose Giants. Christian Gonzalez goes to the mound for the A’s against the Giant’s Brion Treadway. Game time at John Thurman Field is 7:05 p.m
