Bakersfield Blaze at Modesto A's
Jarod Matthews struck out nine and scattered just five hits as the Bakersfield Blaze defeated the A's 4-2 on Thursday night in front of a crowd of 2,134.
Matthews (7-6) outdueled A's starter Christian Gonzalez, who made his first appearance since joining the team from Class-A Kane County. Gonzalez was very strong as well with just three runs allowed in eight innings of work.
A's catcher Jed Morris was the only player on either squad to collect two hits in the game. Edgar Gonzalez smacked a home run and a pair of RBI for Bakersfield.
With the Blaze departing Modesto, the A's welcome the Stockton Ports to town on Friday night at 7:05 PM. The two teams will battle each other on Saturday (7:05 PM) and Sunday (5:05 PM) as well.
