Throck at Large - Why Do We Need This Guy?

Abetemarco must go. He is the absolutely worst basketball commentator in all
of professional sports. His claim to fame came in 1983 when as an assistant
coach at N.C. State he won a national championship. Abetemarco has gravy trained
long enough on the cold corpse of the late Jim Valvano and he has to go –
he has to go now.
He lost at Lamar University, Drake University, and was fired from Sac State. He won on average no more than 5 games per year on a 30 game schedule while at Sac State. In terms of Division 1 sports, Sac State is Siberia of Men’s Basketball. He was banished from Siberia when he was fired and replaced with Jerome Jenkins. Under Jenkins, the team has a fiery demeanor and has vastly improved winning in double digits each year Abetemarco wasn’t there. The best thing Abetemarco did for Sac State was leave.
He then was to coach Christian Brothers at the High School level and was a bust there. In his commentary on KHTK he is such a Rick Adelman sycophant that it makes one stomach grow full of bile. He never has a negative comment about coach Adelman at all – somehow hoping that Adelman says, “You know your stuff…join my staff.”
